Happy birthday to us.
The 9th of July marked our 1st birthday and what a wonderful year it’s been too. Nothing happens by accident and from an idea floated on a forum over a year ago there has been some very hard work by a dedicated group of volunteers from all over the world to get this site to where it is today. We’ve had a few growing pains but all up it’s been quite smooth sailing considering the very complex multi language site it is. None of this could have been possible without the support of our major sponsors who have been extraordinarily generous in their support of the braille scale modelling community. Milan from Tracks ‘n’ Troops has awarded €580 in prizes and Georgi from OKB Grigorov €420. The biggest thank you of all goes to you our members, of which there are now 260, who over the last 12 months have entered an amazing 275 models into the competition. Lastly a special thank you to those that take the time to write to us expressing their support and gratitude, it makes it all worth it. We have more changes planned over the next few months that will further improve the site and make it more interactive. There will be more support for languages, a search feature to help find your favourite models and a members voting system so you can have your say. Looking forward to your continued support, BSMC team.
22/07/2008 11:33Problems solved!
Our web developer Steen has been working hard over the last few days and the recent problems have been solved. The June results are now available and the medals and judges comments from previous competitions are back online, but most importantly you can now enter this months competition. Thanks for your patience, Jason. BSMC team member.
04/07/2008 00:52A few problems
We have a few bugs in the system at the moment, and unfortunantely that means that the results of June's competition (and all earlier) is missing. We are working on a solution at the moment, and luckily it's just a matter of the scores and comments not being shown. Another small issue is making it impossible to submit new galleries for the competition, so please have patience!
01/07/2008 08:46A few missing texts
At the moment we are putting the latest changes to our website online. We have changed the way the different languages are handled, to make it easier translating the site to different languages. At the moment we have some pages that are missing all texts (including English), and several pages where only the English text exists. We'll be working on getting everything back to normal the next few days, so no need to report bugs, we are aware of the problems.
13/06/2008 06:03Changes to the rules.
We have made a small change to the rules. The English rules page has already been updated, and we will shortly get it translated so we can update the pages for the other languages too. To make the work-load of judging a bit smaller, to try and avoid the judges from burning out, this new rule apply: All texts on a submitted gallery must be in English, the title excluded. If the title is not in English, it is advisable to write a short explanation/translation in English in the description.
04/06/2008 06:40Judges Needed
Over the last 8 months this competition has become very successful and that very success is entirely dependent on the team of judges behind the scenes. Right now we are looking for some new people to join our team and take the competition into the future. If you would like to help but don’t have any experience, we have a full training program for all our judges. Being a judge is not as hard as you might think, if you can: pick a good model, write in English & spare a few hours a week per competition, then you can judge. We have a support forum where you can ask question and chat with the other judges and there is no ongoing commitment needed; you can judge as many or as few times as you like. Help out the competition that helps you out, become a judge, contact us today.
